About Muzic4Lives

Who we are

Muzic4Lives is a youth-led performing arts group. Students plan the programs, lead the chapters and perform at every show. Parents serve as mentors, providing guidance and oversight, and Fractured Atlas serves as our fiscal sponsor.

We started in 2023 and have performed every month since January 2024. Our programs aim to foster connection, engagement and moments of joy for residents, while giving student artists meaningful stage experience in service of their community.

Artists

Our artists and leaders

Chapter and Program Leads plan and run each performance. Artists in Residence perform with their chapter through the season. New artists join with at least three years of training and two seasons of stage experience.

Chapter and Program Leads

Students who run their chapter's programs: building relationships with senior communities, scheduling performances, coordinating artists and hosting each show.

Artists in Residence

Musicians, vocalists and dancers who perform with their chapter through the season and bring a rehearsed, stage-ready piece to each performance.

Chapters

Our chapters

Each chapter works with senior communities near its members, schedules its own performances and follows the same standards for preparation, conduct and photo consent.

Time and standards

How much time does it take?

About 3–4 hours a month: preparing your piece and one performance of roughly an hour. Every piece must be stage-ready before show day, meaning rehearsed, timed and polished, with attire suited to the performance.

Can I join if I can't perform every month?

Yes. Artists sign up for the months that fit their schedule, and Program Leads build each lineup from the artists who are available and ready.

What standard do performances need to meet?

Perform a piece you have already mastered, such as a recital piece, a dance item or a song you have performed before. Program Leads review each lineup so the program is varied, well paced and performance-ready.

Do I have to travel far?

No. You perform with your local chapter, Tri-Valley or Fremont, so shows are close to home.

Do I get volunteer hours?

Yes. Bring your school's volunteer-hours form to the performance, and staff at the host community will verify and sign it.

Joining

Who can join?

Student musicians, vocalists and dancers who have trained for at least three years and have performed on stage for at least two seasons. Solo and group acts are welcome.

How do I apply?

Submit the student artist application with your performance experience, availability and a link to a recent performance video. Applicants under 18 need a parent or guardian's consent. A Program Lead will review your application and follow up.

What kinds of performances do you do?

Instrumental music, singing and dance, solo or in groups, across classical, folk, Bollywood and Western styles.

What do student artists gain?

Regular stage experience, feedback from experienced peers, leadership opportunities as a Chapter or Program Lead, and verified volunteer hours.

About Muzic4Lives

Our programs aim to foster connection, engagement and moments of joy for residents and the staff who care for them.

Who runs Muzic4Lives?

Muzic4Lives is youth-led. Students run the chapters, plan the programs and perform. Parents serve as mentors and provide guidance and oversight, and Fractured Atlas, a nonprofit arts service organization, is our fiscal sponsor.

How can I help spread the word?

Share this page with friends who play, sing or dance. Most of our artists joined because a friend invited them.
